+## Adding a website to the whitelist
+
+In general, a whitelist is a list of items that has been approved to receive special privileges. You can add website URLs to a whitelist in order to view ads on websites that you want to support.

+### Chrome
+
+1. **Mac OS X and Linux**: Click **Chrome** and select **Preferences**.
+<br>**Windows**: Click the **Chrome menu icon** and select **Settings**.
+<br>The *Settings* tab opens.
+2. Select **Extensions** from the left menu.
+3. Locate Adblock Plus and click **Options**.
+<br>The *Adblock Plus Options* tab opens.
+4. Select the **Whitelisted domains** tab.
+5. Enter the website URL and click **Add domain**.
+6. Close the tab.

An additional step of 'Check that the domain has correctly entered the box
below' so that the user can confirm the process completed correctly.

I am unsure as to why we are showing how to whitelist via icon here, but not
above with Chrome or even vice versa? We should either always show the same way
to whitelist or show both. Having one way on one browser and a different one on
another when both options are available seems odd and inconsistent.

I am unsure how to add a website to the whitelist on Firefox. Any tips?

In the case that the extension is disabled, the icon will not display in the
status bar at all. I wonder if it is worth us adding a link to a different
article here about how to check if ABP is enabled, so, if the user hits this
issue whilst following these steps, then they have a reference point to check
against.

+### Adblock Plus for iOS

+1. Open the Adblock Plus for iOS app.
+2. Tap **Whitelisted Websites**.

Currently, each time the app is opened, the user needs to select the 'tool' icon
a the bottom of the first run screen to get to the menu. This should probably be
stated here as a step in between 1. and 2. currently. From what I am aware of,
this will change in the future, but I think it is important to have this there
now.

+3. Tap the field below *Add Website to Whitelist*.
+4. Enter the **website URL**.
+5. Tap the **+ sign**.

The last step should be 'Confirm that the URL has successfully been entered into
the 'Your Whitelist' section below.

For consistency here, we should always have the same way to access the
extension. For example, with the situation given here in Maxthon, if the user
has
the extension disabled, then there would not be any ABP icon for them to select.
In addition to this, some browsers allow hiding of icons in the extensions bar,
so it's safer for the user to navigate to the extensions page from within the
browser menu first.
